How it works, and where to write.
Bottou is built and supported by one person. Replies take as long as they take, but every message is read.

Common questions
Why is there no pause button?
Because a pause would let a break hide inside the measurement. The block is a claim about unbroken attention, and a paused block is not that. If you stop and come back, the second sitting is a new block.
My block vanished. What happened?
Anything under a minute is discarded as a misclick rather than recorded as a one-minute focus block.
What do the four stop reasons mean?
Done means you finished what you sat down to do. Distracted means the pull came from you. Interrupted means it came from outside. Ran out of steam means attention faded rather than broke. The split between them is the useful part.
How should I rate focus?
Against attention, not output. Five is losing track of time; one is barely holding it together. A short block you were locked into is a five. A long one you kept dragging yourself back to is not.
Can I edit or add a block afterwards?
You can write a reflection for today or a past day from the Calendar. The blocks themselves record what your taps recorded.
Do I need an account?
No. Bottou works fully without one. An account exists only to sync between your iPhone and your Mac.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and everything uploaded with it from the server, and clears the local data on the device. It cannot be undone.
Is Bottou free?
Yes. Free to download, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, and no advertising.
