How it works, and where to write.

Yes. Shutoku requires a free account — an email address and a password. It holds your vocabulary and review progress, which is how they survive a lost phone and reach a second device. What it stores is set out in the privacy policy.

Shutoku tracks how securely you know each word and schedules its next review for the point just before recall is likely to fail. Words you know well appear less often; words you keep losing come back sooner. There is nothing to configure.

Vocabulary across all JLPT levels, N5 through N1. You can filter the dictionary by level and focus reviews on the band you are actually working at.

The conjugation engine covers て-form, た-form, negative, potential, causative and passive. Any verb in the dictionary can be practised in any of those forms.

Yes, and you can switch at any time between hiragana, katakana and romaji. Reducing romaji as your reading improves is the intended path, but the app will not force it.

Sign in with the same account on the second device. Your progress uploads automatically when you create the account and downloads automatically when you sign in, so there is nothing to switch on.

On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and enter your email address. A reset link arrives within a few minutes. Check spam if it does not.

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and everything uploaded with it from the server, and clears the local data on the device. It cannot be undone. If you no longer have the app installed, you can ask by email — both routes are on the account deletion page.
